Information Age

Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near. Revelation 1:3

It is true the present age is engulfed in information, it is known a Information Age because of easy access to information. All we need and that we do not need is easily available. At a few scrolls and taps you can get answers to anything you need in the world. You can search for how to cook a particular dish and be given all details necessary and even in different forms video audio and text. You can search by voice, you do not need to tap and click, just speak. It is fascinating to use this technology. You can ham a tune and the search will give you the actual song, you can get translations of almost anything from one language to what you would prefer by taking a picture of that text, you can take a picture of an item and search will give you details of the item it’s function and use etc. Similarly, the word of God is easily searchable, readable. Audible and reachable you can get sermons, teachings, definitions descriptions, illustrations of almost anything in God’s word with a flip of a page or even the touch or click.

The pages of the Bible are filled with God’s messages to us. Everything you need to know for your salvation. All we need to know about the past the present and even the future of God’s plans for us. It is full of testimonies of people in the past, full of warnings, it tells us the true identity of our enemy and how to defeat him, it reveals to us what is right and what is wrong, it has everything we need and more. Truly, it is the God of information. It came in many different ways, through writing, though narration, teachings, actions, demonstrations, miracles, parables, through revelation, dreams, inspiration along others and the author is without limitation.

There is therefore no excuse of ignorance in the modern times. That could have been an excuse in the dark days in the days when messages were carried by people from one place to another, where messengers were to move physically in order to deliver information or warnings or even good news. In this age, information is readily available online, on Televisions, phones, in radios books and still available through messengers, let us call them gospel workers. Except for a few places of the world, you can literally get information within steps of your home.

Blessed therefore, is one who is open to these opportunities for their salvation’s sake; to make good of all the opportunities within their reach, for their feasting and spiritual growth.

To them that hear and search the word are rewards for strength and growth, while to the negligent, and careless of this readily available opportunity would be vulnerability and spiritual weakness. Such would not be able to stand the temptations because they are not informed they are not equipped with the source of strength.

Ability to reading in itself is a gift we shall be accounted for in judgment. We cannot have any excuses for failure to be sharpened by the word of God. And it’s not enough to hear only but to search the scripture ourselves to see what God has said, and done so that we may be saved.
