The word of God is his desire and will for his people it communicates what God wants us to do, what is good and that which is not good for us to know and make right choice, it introduces us to his great plan for us, it reveals. God’s word is his command as is in his ten commandments communicating clearly what he expects of us; God’s word is his love is his power as he spoke and it came to being in creation; it is his will as it communicates the good things that has been prepared for them that Love him; the word is powerful it can bring changes in people’s lives and can truly transform – Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
The word gets into the heart and affect that which requires a change and brings knowledge of the things of God so that there can be change. The change can be so drastic and dramatic to make sense to those that are not affected with it Revelation 6:9 ..I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held.
That word is his judgement, it determines our destiny based on the decisions we make daily in light of his word Psalms 119:105-107 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments. I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O Lord, according unto thy word.” God has illuminated our lives with his word that gives us directions for us, to live within his will. His law is his word we are judged by it and it guided in conformity with his will. God’s people have principles to guide them in all aspects of life that is found in his word.
“The Word of God that saves and sanctifies, from generation to generation, is preserved in a Book. And therefore at the heart of every pastor’s work is book-work. Call it reading, meditation, reflection, cogitation, study, exegesis, or whatever you will–a large and central part of our work is to wrestle God’s meaning from a Book, and proclaim it in the power of the Holy Spirit.” Martin Luther
1 Peter 1:23,25 – Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
The word keeps us off the fall of temptation enabling us to make informed decisions regarding our spiritual direction. Revelation 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

We cannot live a true christian life without direction without instruction, cannot do as we wish yet be successful and closely connected to Christ our Savior . Our christian journey is guided by God’s will found in his word his promises, his Law, his admonitions counsel his encouragement.

There is no short cut to a good relationship. Communication is key to our enduring relationship with Christ. Obedience to his word calls for the understanding of that word and desire for us day by day.
