And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time? (Matthew 8:29 [KJV])
Time is an important aspect of redemption plan. That plan of restoring man to his former state before sin and to eradicate sin is time bound. God has worked with that time plan from the very beginning and still on course with that plan. The bible says, (Galatians 4:4 [KJV]) “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law.” The entire plan of salvation is timed and each event is within the timeline of God’s plan. We do not have the entire view of God’s clock but all important events on the timeline of God’s calendar has been revealed to us, except the day of His coming, as recorded in the book of (2 Peter 3:10 [KJV]), “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.”
In god’s time Israelites were freed from Egyptian bondage and taken to a promised land; the land of peace and comfort, the land full of provisions for their daily needs a place where they will be free to worship their God without being harassed and mocked. (Exodus 3:8 [KJV]) ”And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey ..” Knowing that God is faithful and that his word will surely come to pass is rewarding. Joseph knew God’s promise and planned accordingly (Genesis 50:24 [KJV]) “And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.”
God promised to rescue his people from the bondage of sin – this world, to a Promised Land and extinguish sin forever. Just as the time for ending their bondage in Egypt came to being, the time for ending the bondage in this world is soon coming. “He will come to honor those who have loved him, and kept his commandments and to take them to himself. He has not forgotten them nor his promise.” (The Watchman, October 3, 1905 par. 9) The end to what we see in this sin sick world will surely come to pass, it is a sure thing. What is interesting is that Satan knows God’s plan and being clever, has worked with that in mind. He knows his time is soon coming to an end therefore he must cause more harm in the little time he has remained.
“Therefore rejoice, [ye] heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.” (Revelation 12:12 [KJV])
