I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. (Rev 1:8 [KJV])

This is amazing! The text above has been repeated in revelation a couple of times, in Revelation 1:11; 21:6; and 22:13. There is only one under the sun and up in heaven and in all ends of the universe that would claim to be “Alpha & Omega, the beginning and the ending” and that is the Creator God.

God was there to create the universe although that was not his beginning; His existence is mystery, Ellen White puts it this way, “The revelation of Himself that God has given in His Word is for our study. This we may seek to understand. But beyond this we are not to penetrate. . . None are to indulge in speculation regarding His nature. Here silence is eloquence. The Omniscient One is above discussion.” {The Faith I Live By p.40} Elsewhere she says Man has no understanding of himself how then can he dare venture to explain God. (Medical Ministries p.92)

We cannot venture into studying God but through what he has revealed to us we can begin to see the omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent God. Words that cannot describe any other being because they reveal the nature least understood by man. This being the truth, how come we human beings have surrendered our dependence to useless, powerless and hopeless sources? Who has bewitched us as Paul tells the Galatians in Galatians 3:1, to depend on idols, other human beings, nature and all unthinkable things? Paul would have called us fools today just like he did then. That is how blinding sin is.

It is amazing to think of this Almighty God struggling with you and me yet is able to create; this is the mystery of God’s character, his mercy and love and grace. God who was, is and is to come should be the one in-charge of our lives; he does not predict the future he knows the future; he is not a ‘may be’ God, he will change our lives to what it should be of which we have limited knowledge of.

He is still Alpha and Omega whether we allow Him into our lives or not; for those who will chose to let him lead, will have His will be their Alpha in guiding their ways and will be their Omega in final reward; while those opposed to him will have their reward from God’s prescribed wages of sin.

Let us recognize and appreciate God for who he is, we owe him everything in life and he desires goodness.  He has for us everything we need in this life and life to come. I thank God for being mindful of me.
