Work for Truth

For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth. 2 Corinthians 13:8
Going against the truth is like hitting your head against the wall. The Hebrews boys in Babylon were aware of that truth, and they were not about to compromise the truth for anything. They did not need a second chance to decide between truth and what they were called to do by the king. Daniel 3:16 “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.” They understood that the truth will not change that their God is true God and there is none like Him, in or out of the furnace, their God is the true God.

Knowing the truth is one thing but all together different to stand up for the truth. There is a strong opposition for truth, this is why those standing up for truth will continuously face strong reaction from those opposing it. Those who are opposed to the truth gets annoyed and sometimes respond with violently in order to prove their point. What you know to be true for long time in life becomes your belief you will always want to defend it especially when the real truth is presented to you for the first time. How do you react when the truth you believed in is challenged? Do you embrace it or do you repel it? When you find yourself in an argument and facts are placed before you from those you strongly opposed, do you accept it or you are reaction is guided by your ego?

You can begin to see why Jesus warned his followers; that they will face persecution as long as they have remained faithful to him, him being the truth there will be those opposing it, the enemies of truth. Paul knew this well, 2 Timothy 4:3-5 “For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” Such people will not be happy when the truth dawn on them.

Since the truth is constant, it does not change, it can stand the test of time. Truth last year, is still truth today, this is especially true of God. He said in Heb.13:8 He is the same yesterday today and forever. Also, Hebrews 1:12 ” ..But you are the same, and your years will have no end.” Fiction is counter truth and the world is full of it. The literature is full of fiction and that is what many like to read. Fiction is found in all aspects of humanity; in entertainment, sports, education, social life etc. that has been and will remain to be the plan of Satan in order to deceive many. “The readers of fiction are indulging an evil that destroys spirituality, eclipsing the beauty of the sacred page. It creates an unhealthy excitement, fevers the imagination, unfits the mind for usefulness, weans the soul from prayer, and disqualifies it for any spiritual exercise.” – {Counsels for the Church p.168}

Knowing this should make us wiser unto salvation.
