God of Abraham

For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you. Leviticus 26:9
The promise of God in the text above is unique in several ways. The entire chapter is presenting blessings and curses based on ones choice. But the above promise is commonly associated with Abraham but the truth is that Abraham was one of those who received the blessing which was as old as creation. It is amazing what is stored for those who make their right choice for Christ, but something caught my attention in verse 9. That promise, has been presented as a package of 4 and the bible has these blessings repeated to some individuals under different circumstances in the past.

  1. To be fruitful -this blessing did not only apply to reproduction but it had a spiritual implication “..being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God..”Colossians 1:10 To Adam and Eve “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth..” Genesis 1:28. To Abraham,“And I will make thee exceeding fruitful..” Genesis 17:6 to the Israelites – Leviticus 26:9 “For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you.” fruitful is to manifest what we have received of God for His glory, to demonstrate and replicate the love of God.
  2. Multiply – this blessing in many cases has been attached to that of being fruitful it is common to read ‘be fruitful and multiply’ in one text, but this is by itself a blessing. We shall increase in numbers, we shall have multiples of all that God has given to us. We will multiply in families in friends in wealth in recourses, in making disciple of chest. “..by climbing round by round the ladder heavenward, by becoming complete in the Beloved. As we shall work upon the plan of addition, by faith adding grace to grace, God will work upon the plan of multiplication, and multiply grace and peace unto us.”– {TMK 160.2}. This multiplication is also promised in wealth upon faith steward. Those who utilized their talents well will receive multiple talents, those who give a faithful tithe and offering will receive multiple in return
  3. God will Establish a Covenant – God’s covenant with his people has been in existence even before the foundations of this world. God had a covenant laid out for the salvation of men. “God brought these witnesses into covenant relation with Himself, uniting the church on earth with the church in heaven.” – {AA 11.2} The covenant God made with Abraham was for his salvation but it is also a type of covenant God has made with each one of us. He made that covenant revealed to Noah, the Israelites, the Jews and disciples, but it was finally confirmed and sealed through the cross. “We ourselves owe everything to God’s free grace. Grace in the covenant ordained our adoption. Grace in the Saviour effected our redemption, our regeneration, and our exaltation to heirship with Christ. Let this grace be revealed to others.” – {COL 250.1}
  4. Respect – Psalms 37:34 “Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.” To the faithful, God will make them great? God will give them His attention and they will receive His recognition. Such people are dear to God. 1 Samuel 2:30 “.. Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.”
