Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh [but] in vain. Ps 127:1 (KJV)

Security is one of the greatest investments carried out by organizations companies and even individual. Beginning with our homes, we design and build them to keep robbers and thugs out. The walls, the windows the doors, the thorny fences and hedges, wire or block fences, low and high walls, the roof, the security cameras, security lights, heavy metal gates, alarms and finally security guards. Despite that we experience robbery even in a house which are considered most secured. After such a heavy investment in security feature, nowadays robbers would simply wait outside the gate and walk in with home owner as gates are opened for them rendering the investment meaningless.

One early morning we woke to a horror of an empty house. While we were asleep they came in and took everything they wanted and left. They did not break into our bedroom which would have been an easy entry, God prevented that from happening. There are many who have been woken up by robbers on their bedside and some have been killed inside their safe houses. Regardless of the complex security features people put in their houses thieves can get in when they want to.

Why is it that we do everything to keep our homes safe and secure? What is it that we have inside those houses that warrant that security, how do we chose security suitable for our homes or business premises? What criteria do we place on choice?  What is on our most high priority to guard? What is of greatest risk if robbers attack us? I thought of these questions and it became evident that, robbers are looking for worldly possessions and the more we have of those the greater is the invitation to come for them. Some of these may be of importance to us but often we get overboard and indulge in more and more acquisition of property. We slowly begin to invest on earth instead of Heaven where thieves and moths would not reach to steal or destroy. How many have devoted life and soul to acquiring wealth, but were not rich toward God; and when adversity came upon them, and their possessions were swept away, they had nothing laid up in heaven. They had lost all,–both temporal and eternal riches.” {Review & Herald Sept 18, 1888}

Adam and Eve lost their security after fall so they went hiding without God their source of security was missing they felt the need to find their own way of securing themselves. Till this day they had known no fear and had never had this feeling of insecurity, but now they ran away and hid from what of from who there were only animals, birds and other wonderful creatures God had made and of course the serpent. They had no reasons to fear but reasons for fear came in from the absence of God due to sin. God was their source of security and confidence and now it was missing.

Nothing will stand securely in our lives without Christ. We have no other source of security or assurance in life outside of Christ.

Why wouldn’t Satan provide them alternative sense of Security so that they have nothing to worry about? He does not have it that’s why. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. (Psalms 4:8, KJV)
