Beg for a Healing Touch

They were begging Him that they might only touch the tassel on His robe. And as many as touched it were made perfectly well. Matthew 14:36

Jesus began his ministry with miracles of healing and freeing people of demon possession, setting them free. These acts made people desperate to meet him and receive healing so many brought their sick family members to Jesus for healing. As the news spread across the land, people looked for opportunities to meet Jesus for a healing touch and he healed them. But how many of these people received spiritual healing? The answer would be all of them. How do I know that? Because Jesus healed wholesomely. Those who received healing would not be the same again. The family members who brought their loved ones to Jesus may have done so to get rid of the burden they had. But to the touched, transformation would be total.

Physical healing was but a manifestation of greater healing Jesus had come to dispense. The ultimate healing would be the spiritual healing. “The Saviour ministered to both the soul and the body. The gospel which He taught was a message of spiritual life and of physical restoration. Deliverance from sin and the healing of disease were linked together.”{Mind, Character and Personality Vol.2 p.683} As the many received the physical healing, it is their spiritual healing that would bring complete transformation. The physical healing is a conduit through which spiritual healing is receive. “Let us remember that we bear a message of healing to a world filled with sinsick souls.”  {Loma Linda Messages p.54} We should not forget that the physical came as a result of sin and that the final solution to physical challenges is to get rid of sin completely. As long as we live in sin and in the sinful environment we will suffer physically.

No wonder Jesus said John 10:10,. . . I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly. In His healing it was said that he made them ‘whole’, this implies that it was more than a physical healing, it did not stop at a physical it went beyond. He said to the woman who touched His hem, “…thy faith hath made thee whole” Matt. 9:22

So as servants of God as we carry out the mission of drawing other to Jesus we need to be aware of the holistic approach this is applicable to medical professionals and even the ministers and even you and I are called to be a channel of holistic healing to others If they do not work for the healing of the soul as well as for the healing of the body, they are not following the example of the great Medical Missionary. {Medical Ministry p. 40} Love, care, help, teaching the word, and many other spiritual acts would facilitate this healing. We do not heal we only direct them to the healer-Jesus.
They begged to touch Jesus for healing not for Jesus to touch them. They were desperate for healing while the opportunity loomed. We must not let such an opportunity pass by, we must beg for its impact on us, after all we are not whole; we need to be made whole.By A. Eliamani
