Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy re-reward. (Isaiah 58:8 [KJV])
Often as I step outside in the morning on my way to work and as the first fresh air blows my face I realize I am well and alive and I cannot resist whispering a prayer of thanks giving to God the giver of life. I then resolve to make a difference as God will lead so that I can be the light breaking forth in some way to someone. The light is not mine, I do not generate any light, light should come from the LORD. Whether it is through knowledge or wisdom found in me; whether it is encouragement, care, warmth, attention, kind response to someone etcetera, it should be that which is from God then only it will be like a beam of light making real difference.
The text above is another powerful incentive to anyone seeking to follow God, it speaks much to me, it seem so loaded in one simple yet complex statement. The scripture conveys the will of God, His desired outcome for his people. It appears that life will suddenly change for those who will receive this promise. It feels like something so good is about to happen. Who does not want a whole new life, a total change? Who does not have issues clouding their lives and wish to be laid to rest? Who does not wish to wake up one morning with clear fresh beginning, with nothing lingering to worry about by opening a new chapter and forgetting the past? Isn’t that what the text is telling me and even you?
There is nothing as horrible as going to sleep weary and worried and waking up as if you did not sleep because the head is filled with yesterdays staff you have no solution for. That is because there is no rest in such situations in life and matters are worse because they seem hopeless and cloudy setting-in misery, gloomy, hopeless and less exciting living. Have you seen someone so excited because he has found a solution to a troublesome situation? You can almost feel the excitement, the energy for that person. You can actually see the relief it has brought; that should be the case with those who receive this wonderful promise.
So the question that arises is why not, what is preventing this wonderful change from happening? What should I do to get that? Is it real?
Stepping into the world without the source of light to attract and draw those in darkness and to give us guidance is dangerous. Just like any normal situation, making your way in darkness is but wondering. That happens only to those who are in darkness themselves they have no light to share and even to guide themselves. They become exposed and vulnerable to danger.
“Jesus Christ is our righteousness. Every step that Christ takes and we follow, the glory of the Lord is our re-reward.” – (Sermons and talks Vol.2 p.107)
Pathfinder Law number 7 says “Keep a song in my heart” this simply means “I will be cheerful and happy and let the influence of my life be as sunshine to others.” This will only be possible with Jesus in our lives.
