Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. (Isa 56:5 [KJV])
There are strange names existing today. Many children have changed the names given to them by their parents later in life because the names may have not been a good name. We are still in the 2014 world cup mood and i was watching a BBC documentary where they collected children who bare names of soccer stars that existed over the years, and these were just a few they were able to access. These were names given by parents to their children because they idolized these players. And some of them actually feel they are as good as the players they were named after. That is just a highlight of what the name can do.
I once heard of a father who was an auto mechanic so he named his children after things in his profession so you have children with names such as Flywheel and Spanner. An have heard reported cases in the news that courts have ruled against parents wish to specific names for their children. I visited google and was shocked to read some of the worst names given to children they included names such as; Yahoo, Marijuana, Pirate, Crew, Pagan, Evil Blessings, Wrath, and I.P. Freely.
“Names are linked to success and research shows that an improper name can result in a child having difficulties as an adult in their career. A strange name can result in people not taking the person seriously.” – (Psychology Today, Nov. 2000) Cindy Kelma
“Baby’s name can have an impact on self concept and confidence in later years. The name determines the messages other people send the child, either verbally or non-verbally. In essence you are your name.” – H. Edward Deluzain
“Robert Mehrabian, wrote an article on www.kaaj.com, and stated that people with favorable names are treated better. A research experiment was conducted where a group of teachers were given papers to grade without knowing names. Grades seemed to be consistent across the board. They then were given a group of papers to grade, knowing the children’s names, some of which were odd or unusual. The teachers had never met these children and knew nothing else about them besides their names. When statistics were compiled, the children with the odd or unusual names received significantly lower grades on their papers than the children with more common names..”
It seem to me that just as sin has polluted peoples’ minds that have had an impact on the naming. That polluted mind cannot think of the value of a good name it does not care what becomes of that child it has no good will in the life of he child it is all about what we feel or think now for us, not for the child who will live his or her entire life with that name.
I sometime wonder what name the angels are using to maintain our records in heaven! I believe they have better ways of identifying us without our terrible names that some of us have been given.
But the best part is when we get there our names will be changed we shall have names that that will echo with for eternity and every time that name is called it will resound the rebirth and redemption.
