Purity Through the Word

God — His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is pure. He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. 2 Samuel 22:31

The word of God acts like a soap that removes germs from our bodiesand keep it pure. Constant taking in of His word will keep us from impurities. It will create a layer of protection aginst impurities that comes in contact with us. I like the dettol advertisement i see on TV where a child takes bath using the soap and then they show an invisible shield it creates to protect the child whole day that is what happens with the word of God. Principally it is not possible for the impurities to mix with pure even when they get into the pure they clearly stand out and can be isolated and removed. “We are living in the last days. Soon Christ is coming for His people to take them to the mansions He is preparing for them. But nothing that defiles can enter those mansions. Heaven is pure and holy, and those who pass through the gates of the City of God must here be clothed with inward and outward purity. – E. G. White {Councils on Health p.103}

Therefore reading and studying God’s word daily is likened to creating a shield of purity around us that protects us from the evil bombadments around us all the time. No wonder we find the psalmist saying, “How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping Your word.” Psalms 119:9 We know that yhe word is powered by God it is the breath of God His will for us all. “Only those who have been diligent students of the Scriptures, and who have received the love of the truth, will be shielded from the powerful delusion that takes the world captive. By the Bible testimony these will detect the deceiver in his disguise.” – E. G. White (Great Controversy p.625) When we accept it and read it and apply it into our lives we have applied God’s presence and there cannot be a room for evil in us once we have filled that space with purity.“God — His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is pure. He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.” Psalms 18:30

We need this purity because it is in this purity that we can see God, we cannot see God unless we are pure and holy, unless we have all impurities removed from us. The children of Israel also wanted to see God and theywere asked to purify themselves or else seeing God in their state would mean death to them. No wonder Jesus said “Blessed are the pure in spirit for they shall see God” Matt. 5:8 God longs to commune with us but again He does not want us to die in the process so being pure is of great importance to God because it guarantees our one-on-one communion with Him. What a Loving God!
