We reduce God to images or concepts of things our minds are limited to perceive when we subject God to comparison. I like how Psalmist describes God’s goodness and With that I can imagine how deeply he got involved with God on a personal level, that he could acknowledge God’s incomprehensible; one that is beyond our imagination, He would not and shall not be compared or likened to anything we see or know. He repeatedly use the expression ‘who is like…’ to show the incomparable nature of God and His indescribable nature. It is like challenging anyone, challenging us Christians to embrace the unmatched, immeasurable beyond us ‘God’. He said in Psalms 35:10 “All my bones shall say, Lord, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?” and in Ps. 113:5 5[KJV] “Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on high.” Truly, who could be compared to God Almighty? We have none that can be just and merciful at the same time. We cannot find anywhere one like our loving God, who cares for us and comes to our rescue when in trouble by our own choice.
It is only possible for us to reach the level of David through experiencing God. We would be able to attest to this wonderful God through our relationship with Him. To be able to say confidently doubtlessly remark who is like? Where else have we seen anything close to God? will be possible with His presence in our lives. ‘O taste and see that the Lord is good’.
It is not possible to comprehend the depth of his love for us, to measure his patience towards sin and sinners, to see what he sees in us. It is impossible to understand his concept of justice and mercy in coexistence, why he would consider us heir to his kingdom, the power of His word (let there be…). When we cry He is grieved and hears us. Psalms 106:44 Nevertheless, he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry. Our lives depend on Him and there is not a moment when he does not matter to us. His absence in our lives would spell disaster in our plans, our family life, success in life, happiness, relationships, in our performance of duties, and even our hope in fact, in all aspects of our lives!
Sin has blinded us that we do not see what we deal or not deal with. We take God to be an object we can call today when needed and dump soon after, as though God’s value can depreciate or rather has little or no value, or is of temporary use. We live in Utopia thinking all is well and are in control of all things. Hey, snap to reality we have one God who is supplying all our need including breath of life, energy, good health, environment, families and all that we need to come to his recognition. Which other is so able I cannot begin to imagine any and would not waste my time looking for any other. I am satisfied with God my Maker.
