Not in Numbers

It has not been the numbers that made the life changing or remarkable difference but very few, even single individuals who could not be discouraged or scared to do what their hearts were desiring to do. They did not give up despite discouragements and disappointments in pursuing their course. Their determination and will kept them on course and focused. Success has come to many not by their instant ability or knowledge but through persistence and perseverance in doing what their hearts and mind is leading them to do.
Caleb and Joshua stood alone against the rest of Israel sure that conquering the giant was a small thing to God who has been by them since Egypt but the rest remained stubborn to God powers and ability to deliver them as promised. They allowed fear and doubts to control them instead of the assurance they had in God’s leading. Elijah stood alone on Mount Carmel against all, challenging them to prove their gods powerful against his God. “And Elijah came near to all the people and said, “How long will you go limping between two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” 1Kings 18:21 It took courage and determination. He knew his God would come through for him and not to let him down. He even had the nerve to order supervise the death of false prophets upon their defeat. Noah is another one who stood for God making an ark that would only save him and his family. For 120 years preaching and sounding the warning of the impending destruction but remained alone and his family to the end. The Hebrew boys in captivity, stood for their God against the entire nation even when it meant fiery furnace or lion’s den. Determined to be faithful to the very end regardless of what majority thought.
Gideon’s story is amazing! He thought in numbers as would be expected of any army strategy. God told him to cut down the numbers. Yes the numbers intimidates and pause a threat to the enemy but God can do it alone therefore, the numbers are not necessary where God Is involved; His powers are enough to do all that he wants but for the sake of man’s understanding he allows numbers at times. God allowed numbers in the case of Gideon but smaller that expected. “And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.” Judges 7:2[KJV]
Ready to serve God? Go for it, Right Choice. Fear not the numbers, for God is able to handle all situation and success is sure with or without majority on your side. Do you want to follow Jesus? Yes you better. Follow Him even when alone, numbers in following Jesus will not count in your salvation.
