Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Philippians 4:4
The world joy is so fake, so temporary, so artificial or plastic if I may say so; so unreal, so disappointing. In search of that joy people have turned to wrong remedies or joy inducers which have cause more pain than joy. In fact while thought they were getting the joy they were instead getting untold pain and sorrow. Haven’t you heard people saying that they turn to alcohol when sad and unhappy; did they get that joy or peace in drinking? NO! There are those who have justified the Marijuana for the same lame reason and other indulge in sexual sins or sports, entertainments and many other options to fulfill the desires of flesh for happiness. WHAT A DISASTER!
I want you to understand this today that Satan has brought untold pain and knowing that human beings would seek for solution out of that he brought a counterfeit source of joy that would lead to total destruction -just what he wanted!
God created a joyous Adam and Eve, he placed in them the natural joyful spirit in them and place them in an environment of joy at all times. “True happiness is not to be found in selfish gratification, but in the path of duty. God desires man to be happy, and for this reason He gave him the precepts of His law, that in obeying these he might have joy at home and abroad.” -Our High Calling. It was the command He gave them to obey “You will surely die” that was loaded with sadness pain and sorrow clearly stating that disobedience or rebellion from God spells everything opposite of joy or happiness. The logic here will direct us back to God who is the source of true joy, true happiness that which we will not find anywhere else.
“It is submission to sin that brings the great unhappiness of the soul. It is not poverty, but disobedience, that lessens man’s hope of gaining eternal life, which the Saviour came to bring him. True riches, true peace, true content, enduring happiness,–these are found only in entire surrender to God, in perfect reconciliation to his will.” –Review & Herald, July 4, 1912
“There’s no joy like the joy of giving.” D. L Moody said this after giving generously a huge sum of money for the betterment of others. There is joy in serving God through selfless service to mankind. I dare say the most fulfilling job would be that which has direct contact with people, when it is done well and peoples’ lives are touched there is inner joy that cannot be explained. We are called to serve others and it is by that we see God at work and appreciate him more and more.
Worldly view of happiness “A table, a chair, a bowl of fruit and a violin; what else does a man need to be happy? – Albert Einstein
Happiness or joy comes from having Christ in our live; outside of Him there is no happiness that is the external condition to true happiness. Contrary choice will mean eternal misery. I like the chorus – If you want Joy, really Joy, wonderful Joy, let Jesus come into your heart. .
