Ps 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

How can God be the God of justice and mercy and King and much more without the law? It is not possible to have justice without the law, or mercy and grace without the law. It is because of God’s law that we can say he is gracious, merciful and just God. Actually it is through the law that we actually see His Love. God is love.” His nature, His law, is love. It ever has been; it ever will be.” -E.G. White(Christ Triumphant) All the mercy and grace and justice is in relation to the law. So you once you separate God with the law you will not be able to say He is loving or merciful God.Without the law there cannot be order and governance cease to be.

The kingdom of God the Creator is established on fundamental principles of governance which are stipulated clearly in His law that was there from the very beginning; law that forms the basis of all laws in the world today; law that cannot be challenged anywhere or improved by anyone. That law is perfect is through that we see clearly his plan for us, his desire for us. Through that law we relate with him and with each other. “The nations of the saved will know no other law than the law of heaven. All will be a happy, united family, clothed with the garments of praise and thanksgiving.”E.G. White {AH 544.2}

“The law of God is the foundation of all enduring reformation. We are to present to the world in clear, distinct lines the need of obedience to His law. The great reformative movement must begin in the home. Obedience to God’s law is the great incentive to industry, economy, truthfulness, and just dealing between man and man.”  {CG 489.5}

We have now come to understand God’s law as what defines his governance and it determines our standard of perfection no wonder Jesus said he did not come to change the law but to fulfill it.(Matt 5:17,18) It is through this law that God will judge the originator of sin and all those who have chosen to disobey the law it is through this law that God’s judgement will be seen to be just and fair and the whole world will confess that his judgement is just. “Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.” Psalm 89:14.

God does not take lightly the disregard to his law; at he same time God has made provision for those who would seek to obey him. “The penalty for the least transgression of that law is death, and but for Christ, the sinner’s Advocate, it would be summarily visited on every offender. Justice and mercy are blended. Christ and the law stand side by side. The law convicts the transgressor, and Christ pleads in the sinner’s behalf.  E.G. White {TDG 246.2} It is the law of God that put Christ on the cross thus demonstrated the unchangeable nature of the law, how then could we, sinful mortal being escape the law which could not excuse the Creator till its fulfillment? D. L. Moody makes an interesting observation concerning the law of God by saying; that there are only two places that God wrote with his finger, both the times it was about the law. Law on the tablet of stone on mount Sinai and the the warned king Belshazzar saying he is weighed and is wanting.

By the way – No Law no obedience (as creator and law giver, our obedience and loyalty to Him is our due obligation)

Heb 8:10 “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, said the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:”

Review Questions: How seriously have you considered God’s law? What does the law tell you of His Love? What does the law giver expect of us?
