You Reap What You Sow

Hosea 10:12 Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you.

Make a right choice because you will reap what you have sown. You cannot live a careless life and expect to go free of its consequences; you cannot be a thief and not know you might end up in prison! You cannot be promiscuous and not know you may end up breaking your marriage or become pregnant or end up with some diseases! You cannot be a rumormonger and not cause pain among friends or brothers! You cannot give your life to sinful lifestyle and not end up in eternal death (Hell).

The Lord has made it part of His plan that man’s reaping shall be according to his sowing. And this is the explanation of the misery and suffering in our world, which is charged back on God. The man who serves himself, and makes a God of his stomach, will reap that which is a sure result of the violation of nature’s laws. Those who abuse any organ of the body to gratify lustful appetite and debased passions, in the married or unmarried life, will bear testimony of the same in his countenance. He has sown to fleshly lusts, and he will just as surely realize the consequence.  E.G. White {KC 49.1}

In short what we do in life has its result and whole doing or rather before doing anything we should envision or foresee the result and decide whether we are about to do the right thing. The end result of our planned action is our guide to what we ought to do and that is what shape our legacy. Once known as liar you will be avoided at all costs, you cannot be given responsibilities of trust, you cannot be trusted with everything that proceeds out of your lips. You have defined yourself to those that know you and even those that will soon get to know you.

Job 4:8 As I have seen, those who plow iniquity and sow trouble reap the same.

1Cor. 9:11 If we have sown spiritual things among you, is it too much if we reap material things from you?

Gal. 6:7-9 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Look at your choices as a gateway to success and also your salvation that is a great reward for making right choices. It determines where you will be placed today in society and where you will stand in God’s judgment. Things that are bad here will be rewarded for bad by God and those that are good will receive their good reward.  I urge you to choose God then your choices will be godly and thus reap everlasting life.

Samson’s choice of Delilah reaped blindness, pain, and life of slavery and mockery for someone who was a special person, a Nazarene, born to save God’s people from heathen oppression and turn people back to God but what a wasted life at an early age. (Read Judges 14) On the other hand we have an example of the Hebrew young men in captivity yet chose to obey God rather than enjoying the royal privileges extended to them. They put their God first in all their decisions and their entire life and ended up as a great reward to the heathen nation. (Read Daniel 1).

  1. And to know that the eternally good principle seed was planted in us “in God’s image” how desperate and pitiable can we be to count it useless and throw it away! May God help us work for now and eternity.
